More information on the ECSO NIS2 Implementation Initiaitive
ECSO’s NIS2 implementation initiative aims to bring together ECSO Members, critical infrastructure, policy makers, and CISOs to discuss and learn from each other on how to implement the NIS2 Directive on the ground, both at EU Member State level and at company level.

ECSO has already organised the first webinar with Italian and Belgian national cybersecurity agencies (270 registrations) and the second webinar with Schneider Electric (417 registrations).

This time, ECSO invited Alexandre Dulaunoy, Security Researcher and Head of Department a CIRCL (Computer Incident Response Center Luxembourg) and Vladěna Sasková of the regulation department of NUKIB (Czech National Cyber And Information Security Agency).

Our distinguished guests will present the NIS2 implementation strategy and reporting obligations in Luxembourg and Czechia. They will illustrate the specificities and the uniqueness of the Luxembourgish and Czech strategies, focusing on reporting obligations and relations between the private sector and the public authorities.

As national authorities, both CIRCL and NUKIB will support their respective governments in drafting the national NIS2 transposition law and then supervise essential and important entities in the implementation.

NIS2 Implementation Initiative: White Paper

As the main tangible outcome of the Initiative, ECSO will coordinate with the impacted entities writing and publishing of the NIS2 Implementation White Paper with expected release in Q1 2024.

The White Paper will tackle main challenges & priorities in the implementation with a focus on 4 pillars:

  • NIS2 Implementation « starter pack »

  • Use cases of implementing organisations

  • Overview of transposition in the EU Member States

  • Survey capturing the main pain points in the implementation

All ECSO Members and the CISO Community are invited to join this workstream. If you wish to contribute, please let us know by simply replying to this e-mail indicating that you wish to contribute. 1st Meeting of the group is expected in early December and more details will be announced during the Webinar.

NIS2 Directive Information

The NIS2 Directive will form the basis for cybersecurity risk management measures and reporting obligations in all key sectors covered by the Directive, namely energy, transport, banking, financial market infrastructure, health, drinking water, digital infrastructure, public administrations and the space sector, as well as in important sectors such as postal services, waste management, chemicals, food, medical device manufacturing, electronics, machinery, vehicle engines and digital suppliers.

The NIS2 entered into force on 16 January 2023 and now EU Member States have until 18 October 2024 to transpose it into national law. This transposition process means that the NIS2 will be adapted to the national context of each country and small differences might apply.
